It’s amazing how Dan and Phil are doing this tour all for us. They’ve come so far, and they’re still thinking about us, about how to make us happy, and especially, how to get to know us more. In “FINAL TICKETS FOR OUR UK TOUR”, they told us to ‘bring’ a few things. New 7 Second Challenges that you’ve come up with, arts and crafts that you’ve made, weird childhood stories, and Internet Support Group problems. The issue with some of those things are, that some of you, don’t know when to not cross a line. 

  • DO NOT make any challenges for Dan and Phil to kiss. 
  • DO NOT have them answer questions about their private life, or relationship status’. 
  • DO NOT force anything about the relationship ‘Phan’ onto them. 
  • DO NOT show them any fanart that is sexualised, referring to the relationship of phan, or anything at all that is downright creepy. 
  • DO NOT under any circumstances, even ask about ‘Phan’.

They are people, who have feelings, and that certain subject is very, very touchy. Don’t do anything that will ruin this for everyone else. People will be very upset, and no one wants that. Please don’t ruin this, Dan and Phil have worked very hard on it, and they want us to be happy.

We’re losing many artists in this community over time and the tumblr tag again just proves why.

For such a creatively inclined community, the phandom is DISGUSTING when it comes to respecting other people’s creations. Stealing artwork over here is almost the norm and we see it as something inevitable even though artists spend all their time kindly asking people to respect what belongs to them.

So the tumblr tag video comes around and many of us are not even shocked that people are reposting artworks. Some people think it’s a part of life, just how internet is. What are you going to do, anyway? Some people even think they are doing the artists a favor by showing their art to Dan and Phil and repost it on the tags.

Ha, yeah, right!

Let me make something clear: WHATEVER we create is OUR property. WE as artists (and I include writers in this category) are the ONLY ONES ENTITLED TO DISTRIBUTING OUR OWN ART. You are in NO WAY ALLOWED TO EVER POST SOMETHING WE HAVE CREATED for NO REASON AT ALL, unless we TELL YOU SO!

The fact that people deleted their blogs likely out of shame because of people who repost other’s art is fucking disgusting. I can’t imagine what they are going through and I really hope they are okay, because I wanna think about them as people before I think about their creations. 

I keep imagining people putting a smut fic of mine on display for Dan and Phil to see and having to watch them be uncomfortable/mock my work right in front of my face for MILLIONS of people to see and laugh along at. This may seem like a joke to YOU because you didn’t create it. It’s easy to say everything is fine when it doesn’t hurt YOU!

Yes, I know Dan and Phil didn’t mean any harm and I’m not blaming them for this, but the fact that it happened is just so fucking sad! I really do hope that after this shitstorm they think twice before including something like that in a video ever again. People could get seriously hurt and they are both adults and should know better by now. As tumblr users, it should be fairly obvious to them that people’s work was being reposted. It was just a matter of double-checking and I think it was worth the extra effort, don’t you?

Also if you repost people’s work in a tag they don’t want their art on, for me you’re not part of the phandom but just a shitty person that doesn’t care for others.

People are justified in leaving the phandom after this video!! They are justified in not posting anything else dan&phil related after this video! They aren’t hating on dan&phil for posting this video and they aren’t being ‘childish’. Honestly, people not only reposted their work (which has been happening a lot), but dan&phil saw their work when they didn’t want them to! This phandom is toxic, espc if people get mad at others for leaving. Liking and participating in a fandom is a persons choice and something they do for fun. If they don’t find it fun anymore, they are allowed to stop without all this drama.

As any other community (because that’s what a fandom is) there’re rules and norms and you need to learn those rules first and follow them and not break them. Repost is illegal in our fandom community as much as stealing da Vinci paintings is illegal in real world. Artists leaving and deleting their blog, what they’re doing is called sanctions and they have a right to do so after the norms were violated. And please, if you don’t want to learn the rules of any community, don’t join it or rather follow the rules after following a blog.

You are not a real Phandom member if you are someone who reposted those smut drawings and parent!phan drawings without permission AND THEN decided it would be a good idea to put it in Phil’s tag.

Me, out loud, after watching the video and it was worth it even though my dad thought I needed help (via phanscuddles)
