In 7×02 we see Sam dig into a fresh cut on his left hand in order to ground himself in the face of his Hell hallucinations. Since then (and long after the wound has healed) Sam’s used the same technique in other moments when he feels uncertain about reality. (Edit: updated with S12!)

I’d bet money that this is almost 100% Jared in seasons after season 7, though the call back in 12×01 is extra deliberate so perhaps that’s Dabb. But kudos to keeping this up. I love it.
