…what is it with Charm-Snyder and Dean eating noodles in a disgusting fashion? Didn’t he eat with lo mein noodles spilling out of his mouth in “Halt and Catch Fire”?

Yes, and they suck

Jensen has said that writers will put “do something funny” into the script and he then makes acting choices that he thinks will be funny. This is what started the “Dean loves food” character trait, “do something funny” was put in the script for Nightmare 1.14 and Jensen made the choice to be funny by eating cocktail wienies. We’ve seen him eat messily in Hollywood Babylon 2.18, Tall Tales 2.15 (both by Ben Edlund) and What is and What Should Never Be 2.20 (by Raelle Tucker) to name a few. All these episodes were written years before Charmelo and Snyder joined the show. This writing pair do seem fond of that gag but it was established as a character trait long before their time and was probably an acting choice that Jensen made. It’s also likely that the scripts didn’t say “spit out rice” or “leave noodles hanging out of your mouth” because it’s been established since season 1 that they trust Jensen to make funny choices on his own.
